Killing for her was easy. It was living for her that turned out to be the hard part.
Author’s Note: This is a full-length romance novel. Explicit violence and hot sex included. HEA, no cheating.
I have read every single one of Celia Aaron’s books, and this one has taken its seat in the top three. If I had to recommend any of Aaron’s books to someone who hasn’t read her yet, it would be this one. It has every single element that I’ve come to love from this author. It was a violent, often times laugh-out-loud funny, epically entertaining ride that sucked me in pretty much right from the beginning.
Con (how sexy is that name?!) is extremely hard not to fall for. A stone cold killer doesn’t really sound like the type of guy who would invoke a lot of tender feelings , but his love for Charlie had me swooning all over the place. Con is alpha AF and yet capable of such intense love and, honestly, who doesn’t just love a man who knows exactly how to handle his big gun? Charlie, the florist, seems like a wilting flower but as the story progresses you begin to see her thorns. She is sassy and fierce and took every hit – and my god there were many- in stride.
As I said at the beginning, this book was epically entertaining. The action never stopped and still Aaron managed to write an intriguing plot with plenty of characters that were very easy to love. From passion to violence to humour to tenderness she described every scene beautifully and I could see the entire thing play out inside my head. All of this made this book so much more you’re your average Mafia Romance. Seriously, the only thing this book needed was a blockbuster-worthy movie soundtrack.
